So, my buddy and I are riding side by side in a wide bike lane, and we approach a 4 way stop. We arrive at about the same time as a car from the left. The car driver motions we should go, so I start out. Unknown to me my riding partner had also motioned for the car to proceed, and we have a near miss.
What was our mistake? Should we have designated which rider was the leader?
I think we've all experienced that same thing, scary as it is. Glad none were hurt. Several ifs; If I trust the my riding buddy's judgement I will look to him especially if he's ahead of me. If I am leading I call out loud "STOPPING" and insist that the car go 1st. Thanks, Good question Steve.
